Determiners are words like the,a,my,this,some,either, every,enough,several, determiners come at the beginning of noun phrases, but they are not adjective. The moon , This house , Every week , A nice day , Some problems , Enough trouble , My fat old cat. Group A determiners – the , my , this Articles – A , An , The Possessives – My , Your , His , Her , Our, Their , Whose We cannot put two group A determiners together. We can say a friend , my friend , or this friend but not the my friend, the this friend this my friend or my this friend. This is our school ( not this is the our school ). Is this your book? ( not Is this a your book? ) She is a friend of mine.( not she is a my friend ) Noun with possessives can be used like determiners My father’s car , My parent’s house , The children’s room |
