Car Bomb Kills 5 Soldiers in Southern ThailandAuthorities in southern Thailand say suspected militants have killed five soldiers and wounded one other with a car bomb in the troubled province of Yala.
Police say the bomb was detonated Sunday morning, as the troops passed by in their patrol vehicle. Two rubber plantation workers were also injured in the blast. Islamist separatists have been waging an insurgency in the Muslim-dominated provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani since 2004.
